Few years ago, sometimes on his way to school with his wonderful, talented brother, a bright young boy would look in excitement as he took in the sights and sounds of the environment especially the sight of the roasted plantain and groundnut (bole ati epa :)) ,the wondrous “smell” or would scent be a more appropriate word? and the sound of the charcoal going “pa! tah! ratatah!!”

Awww! He could only dream. Don’t get it twisted, he was grateful for the seasonal “mercy drops” of one or two king-sized plantains once in a while, but he really wanted the “showers of blessings”. He told himself “When I am older, I would buy all the bole and epa that I can!”

That, my friends, was the little boy’s dream. His mission statement, so to say. …and His name is Ire.

In the same vein, if I was given a clean slate a few years ago to paint a picture of what I wanted my life and that of my family to look like, it would most likely have been filled with myopic things which I would have thought were the peak of achievement. Imagine God asking me what I wanted and then getting a reply like “God, please give me all the roasted plantain in the world!” kai! Well, fast forward a few years and the desire for “bole” seems to be dying a natural death.

What if God had answered my prayers as I asked then? Hmm. Then I would be stuck with a warehouse filled with “bole”. Lol. Well, I would most likely have become a mega distributor by now, but that’s by the way.

Now, when most of us pray, we take our will to God for Him to merely approve it, and when He doesn’t, we throw tantrums like little children, without knowing that God refuses to give us “good” when there is “great” available. Understandably, sometimes “great” may not be anywhere in sight or may not look the way we expect.

If God gave us what we wanted every time, we would despise it. Why? Because more often than not, what we want is not what we need.

God sees a bigger picture…the bigger picture! He has the script in His hands. He wants to give you a better life. He wants to do something beyond your wildest imaginations. He wants to make your life the best story ever told; the best script that has ever been written. He wants to make you a Masterpiece! All you have to do is to trust Him. God is a scriptwriter. The best ever. Are you willing to do what He dictates? Are you willing to live by the script?

No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this,
Never so much as imagined anything quite like it—
What God has arranged for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” Ephesians 3:20.
