It has been a great year. A year of God’s faithfulness. Since the blog began, I celebrate my birthday with a yearly review – 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. For this year’s review, I share some of the lessons I have learnt, songs that I have enjoyed and a few verses that I hold dear.
CHRIST IS ENOUGH: Jesus Christ is enough. No additives. No preservatives. Nothing else. Jesus alone is enough. To help with life’s journey. To guide. To comfort. To protect. For everything, Christ is enough.
GOD’S GIFTS: I am grateful for the wonderful family that the Lord has blessed me with. Each day, I am increasingly thankful for the love we share. For the grace we receive. For the privilege to be a part of the Lord’s army. I love you.
I am grateful for friends who are family to me. Thank you for the privilege to walk this journey with you. I appreciate you!
I’m grateful for the amazing people I (have) work(ed) with in the corporate environment. Learning from and with some of the best minds around is a privilege I am thankful for. They are examples worthy of emulation.
One of my expressions of service is working with young people. The happiness and fulfillment I find there cannot be adequately described. I find home there.
KAIZEN: The word is a Japanese term that means continuous improvement, which is one of my values. I wrote an article – Kaizen – on the topic. You will enjoy reading it.
There are times when a job well done has the tendency to become a sofa rather than a springboard. This should not be. What was done is gone. It was good, but it can and should be improved upon.
A lifestyle of lifelong learning and growth can be really challenging at times. But then, I believe it is an important key to maximizing one’s potentials. Like the Tentmaker said in his letter to the church in Philippi – “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are ahead”
CELEBRATE THE LITTLE WINS AS YOU FOCUS ON THE BIG PICTURE: In one of the yearly reviews, I mentioned that I had a challenge with living in the moment. This is something the Lord is helping me to address. There was a moment some months ago when I had a lot of answers, and a lot of questions. During that period, I had a win. Something that seems small. I smile as I remember. So, what did I do? I got a cake, wafers and juice. I stopped to smell the roses. To enjoy the moment.
Some of the challenges I had have been resolved and new ones have surfaced. It seems to be the way of life. But as the Lord helps me, I will make the best of each day. I have always lived with a focus on the future. I will keep doing this. But I will also enjoy the present. So, help me God.
BLOGVERSARY 4: This blog remains a gift I’m thankful for. July was the fourth anniversary of its launch. I’m grateful for the posts, contributors and readers. Above all, I’m grateful to God, the One who started and sustains this platform.
LIFE IS A GIFT: One of the things I thank God for is the gift of life. This year, I understood the importance of that prayer more. We are always a breath away from death. It’s a tough but important truth. An increased understanding of the value of life has helped me to keep living as a steward of God’s grace.
DREAMS COME TRUE: One of the highlights of last year’s review was my favourite team, Liverpool, winning the Champions League. Well, during the last 12 months, they added two trophies: the Club World Cup and Premier League trophies. The latter of which they had waited 30 years for! Championnssssss…!

- Isaiah 42:16 – I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.
- Hebrews 11:8 – By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
- Isaiah 43:19 – See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
- 1 Samuel 1:27 – For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him.
I smiled as I read my yearly review for 2018/2019 a few days ago. Truly, God is faithful.
One of our family prayers is this – May the answers to all our life questions be GOD. This has been and will always be our testimony!
As I stand on the edge of Jordan, starting a new year, I am excited to see all the Lord in store. I am sure it will be amazing!
‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far
and grace will lead me home.”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IREMIDE! Beloved of the Lord
