Honestly, I thought I had uploaded my last post for the year when I wrote THANK YOU FOR 2017 (plus a gift 🙂 ), but then I started writing on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/iremide.akinsola) and this is the result. I’ll share here what I posted there. Enjoy! 🙂

UNTITLED (Part 1?)

So I set out to write and I considered some titles in my mind, but I couldn’t settle for any, hence the title, Untitled. I wanted to use the title, Musings. I just like the way it sounds kinda funny. Musings  Lemme try that again, Musings . Hehe. I don’t know why, but at this present time, the word is tickling me. Musings.. Hehe. Oya, let me stop that now. Moving on…

I put a question mark after part 1 because I’m not sure where or how this will flow and end. The words you will be reading are just seeing the world outside the womb of my brain for the first time. Forgive me if they aren’t polished. E ma binu.

I have a question for you. “What makes a good year for you?” Several victories? Struggles? Failure? Hmm. For me, I’ll say a good year, just like a finely cooked meal, should have those ingredients in a good measure. you might be wondering why failure should be there. Well, I believe that failure, like salt, is needed but if it is too much, it can ruin the food. Sorry, I mean the year.

Failure is a really big word, so it might be a turn off for some. What I am trying to communicate is that we need to have things we don’t perform to the extent of our expectation so that we can be inspired to do better. If you are perfect at all you do, then that probably means you are not trying to do as much as you can. I’m not saying you have to intentional seek to fail, but I believe that if we try to grow, then there is the likelihood that our first work will not be our best work.

For the past few days, I’ve been reflecting on the years that have passed and also the one that is passing. On several occasions, I have had cause to stop and just cry. Just as I am now. I’m trying to look at my laptop through the tears in my eyes and continue this piece. I’ve cried for different reasons.

I have cried as I marveled at God’s sovereignty. I put myself in my shoes a few years ago and I replay the anxiety I had then. Then, I picture God laughing in Heaven ‘cos He knew how it would work out. Also, I have cried as I tried to understand how in the world God loves me. As in, the God of the whole earth loves a flawed boy like me! It’s mind-blowing! Emi? Me? You! The God of the whole earrth!!! Goodddd!! No. I don’t deserve the love that you show. The mercy! The compassion!! Like, you picked me up and saved me from destruction! And you still pick me up at times when I stumble and fall like a baby taking his first steps.

I can’t wrap it up in a paragraph. I can’t even wrap my head around it. It’s beyond comprehension. It really is.

Earlier, I wrote that a good year consists of victories, struggles, and even failure. Can you cast your mind back to those days during the year when you attained dizzy heights of joy due to one thing or the other? Remember the project completed, the graduation, the promotion, the marriage… Remember those stuffs? But can you also remember the times when you cried and fought hard? For your home. For your job. For your sanity. I believe you remember. Finally, can you remember those times you lost the fight? I know you do. Those times you messed up and wished the ground would open up and house you for a while.

Each of those experiences has made you who you are now. Better. Wiser. Tougher. As I learnt during the year, “Those things that break you are meant to build you. Those that hurt you are meant to help you. Those that stretch you are meant to strengthen you.”

Wait a minute, this has become a long article o. Let’s do it like this. I’ll continue on my next status update. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️ I’ll continue with my musings 😂

UNTITLED (Part 2?)

This year, there have been hard times. Jobs lost. Families broken. Hunger. Recession. Depression. Suicide. Tears. There is no other way to put it really. You know what I am referring to, right? I guess you’ve had your fair share. But then, you are here. You are still fighting. God has a word for you.

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob (put your name here), And He who formed you, O Israel (your name):
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life. Fear not, for I am with you;…”

God will fight for you! Hold your peace!

This year, I learnt that “One of the greatest gifts that God gives people is people” People that help you grow. People that challenge you. People that criticize you. People that look up to you. People! People! People!! I have discovered that when the Lord wants to help a man, he gives him people. See David for example, the Bible said that “Day after day men came to help David, until he had a great army, like the army of God. These are the numbers of the men armed for battle who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul’s kingdom over to him, as the LORD had said:” You see that? They came to help him become king!

Also, when the devil wants to destroy a person’s life, he gives him people. Our dear brother Samson’s journey was shipwrecked by people especially Delilah.

As you look back at the past few months, can you remember some people who helped you? People who are truly valuable gifts? If you can, then send them a message and let them know or call them or tag them in this post. Let them know how much they mean to you. Concluding on the “people” section, I sincerely pray for you that those people in your life who will not allow you to reach your divine location will be relocated in Jesus name. Amen. God will take them far away from you! Amen.

*Ire looks at this post and covers his face*… this post has also become a lengthy one. Let me quickly round up. Just one more post. Okay? Please keep reading. Thank you.

You see. No question mark after 3. This is going to be the concluding part of the musings 😂

Right now, I want to tell you about a gift. The greatest gift ever. The gift of salvation! Please, if you have not given your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour, this is your chance. See ehn, it is not about attending church or having a Christian name. It is more than all that!! It is about having a personal relationship with God.

Forget about how you would cope with the Christian life and whether you can be good enough for God! There is grace in the house tonight. There is Grace-personified in the house tonight. His name is Jesus. He will give you the Holy Spirit who will equip and enable you. Don’t be afraid. Just come. Come as you are. Beaten. Bruised. Betrayed. Battered. Just come! Please come!! Jesus is waiting for you. Say this prayer…

“Dear Lord Jesus, I am grateful for the gift you paid for by dying on the cross for my sins. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I ask that you forgive my sins, wash me clean and write my name in the book of life. Father, I ask that you give me the gift of the Holy Spirit and help me to live a life that honors you. Surround me with people who will help me grow. Teach me and guide me from above. Thank you for new life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!”

Please get a Bible and start reading. You could start from the book of Romans. Also prayerfully join a fellowship of believers around you. God will guide you to the right one. Amen.

Okay.. So this is where I conclude.

2017 has been a great year. With many memorable moments. As we stand on the mountain and gaze into the new year, there are several questions in our hearts. How? Why? When? Where?

Tonight, God is assuring us that He who gave victory will give victory. I have this deeeep conviction that God who made our past fears become our present testimonies will also make our present fears become our future testimonies. See ehn, just stick to/with Christ. You will look back and wonder why you ever worried.

For Iremide… I want to say Thank you to each and every one I have interacted with during the course of this year. God bless you greatly.

I have the conviction in my heart that 2018 will be a year filled with testmonies. Iyanu a sele! There will be exponential growth on all sides. God will fight our battles. He will reveal Himself to us in deeper ways. Mountains will crumble before us. God will show Himself strong on our behalf. I am convinced.

PS. For easy access, I’ll compile all this right away and post it on my blog (iremideakinsola.wordpress.com). Also, I have a gift for you. Simply click https://iremideakinsola.wordpress.com/…/thank-you-for-2017…/

At this point, I drop my pen and say “Merry Christmas and a glorious 2018 in advance!!!” Cheers 🙂
